Press release - Action towards a better life

More than 200 older people and the organisations that represent them will join MSPs at the Scottish Parliament on Friday October 31 to debate the vital topics that affect their quality of life.

That debate at the sixth Scottish People’s Assembly (SOPA) will produce an action plan to influence and shape future policy and service planning and implementation.

There are live webcasts of the event via Parliament TV archive. If the Assembly videos are not visible click on the Video search box and type in 'Scottish Older People's Assembly'.

Six key topics will be discussed and agreement reached on a firm action in each category:-

  • communications and information
  • community empowerment
  • health and social care
  • retirement, pensions and money
  • community safety and housing
  • travel, transport and environment.
