Lead Officer Vacancy

The Scottish Older People's Assembly is looking for a new Lead Officer. The post became vacant recently after our current Co-ordinator Caroline left to take up a new position with the Eric Liddell Centre in Edinburgh.

This new post will have lead responsibility for working with and supporting the Board of Trustees and its Chairperson to develop its strategic direction and range of related activities. A key activity will be to organise the annual assembly and meetings with Scottish Parliament elected members and officers to ensure SOPA becomes influential in government policy affecting people in older age. A priority is to produce our Strategic Plan for the next three years and annual work priorities. Routine duties include attending and minuting meetings of the Trustees, working with our project staff and funders to produce regular performance reports, dealing with day-to-day administration, banking and finances ensuring a robust audit trail, applying for future funding, reviewing and updating our member database and communicating with our members and Trustees.

Our ideal candidate will have experience of working with third sector charities at a senior level, and of working with a Board, fundraising, performance reporting and building good working relationships with staff, partner organisations and stakeholders. The role will involve home working with some travel to our office location, Edinburgh and Glasgow for meetings and occasionally elsewhere in Scotland. If you know of anyone who is interested in the role then it is being advertised on Goodmoves or you can contact karen@scotopa.org.uk for a Job Description and Person Specification. The closing date is the 2nd September.
